“Our days on earth are like grass; like wildflowers, we bloom and die. The wind blows, and we are gone — as though we had never been here. But the love of the Lord remains forever with those who fear him” Psalm 103: 15-17
“But it is wrong to say God doesn’t listen, to say the Almighty isn’t concerned. You say you cannot see Him, but He will bring justice if you will only wait.” Job 35:16-15
“Most importantly, I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires. They will say, “What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? From before the times of our ancestors, everything has remained exactly the same since the world was first created.”… But you must remember this one thing, dear friends… The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.” 2 Peter 3:3-9
Our impatience is the Lord’s patience. Beware then, of mocking our Lord’s patience and let us be servants surer of His arrival than of His absence. Let us become children more expectant of our Father’s coming and meeting with us here than of our own deceitful hearts. We desire encounters and we ask for mercy, and daily, if not hourly, we receive these. Every sunrise is His grace and it speaks of His glorious patience unto us. The rays stretch out each morning and whisper, just to you, “Return to me again, my love!” And the next day He calls forth, “Return to me, my love!” How are we responding to our perfect Lover’s plea?
Just as morning dew burns away, there will come a time when there is no longer a sunrise to wake our bodies from our beds and our busy impatience will find its end. Therefore I continue to beg you: let us return to a place of fear and trembling under His glorious hand! May a great reverence for the Lord again inspire our actions and dwell in our hearts for “the love of the Lord remains FOREVER with those who fear him.”
